Setup & Installation

How long does setup take?

Most shops are fully set up in under 15 minutes. The hub arrives pre-configured — plug it into power, connect it to your store WiFi, and your tags are live. Assigning tags to items takes seconds each through the web dashboard.

Do I need a technician or IT support?

No. If you can connect a printer to WiFi, you can set up PriceTaglet. There’s no server to configure, no software to install on a computer, and no technical knowledge required. Everything runs through a web browser.

What do I need to get started?

A WiFi network in your shop and a device with a web browser — phone, tablet, or computer — to access the dashboard. The kit ships with the hub, your tags, mounting hardware, and a quick-start guide.

Can I add more tags later?

Yes. Additional tags can be purchased individually and paired with your existing hub. There’s no practical limit on how many tags a hub can manage for a typical shop.

Pricing & Billing

Is there a contract?

No. PriceTaglet is month-to-month. Cancel any time — no penalties, no minimum commitment period.

What does the monthly fee cover?

Live gold and silver spot price integration (updated throughout the trading day), the management software and dashboard, firmware updates, and customer support. You’re paying for a live data feed that makes the tags genuinely useful, not just static displays.

What’s included in the kit price?

The hub device, your tags (10 with Starter, 20 with Shop Kit), mounting hardware, power adapter, and setup documentation. Everything to go live is in the box.

Are there per-tag monthly fees?

No. The monthly fee is flat regardless of how many tags you’re running. You’re not penalized for scaling up.

How It Works

How often do prices update?

The system pulls live gold and silver spot prices continuously during market hours. When spot moves, affected tags recalculate and update automatically — typically within a few minutes of a market move.

Do I enter prices manually?

No — you set a pricing formula per item, not a manual price. For example: “14k gold, 8.2 grams, markup 35% over melt.” The system calculates the display price from that formula against the current spot price, and updates the tag automatically whenever spot changes. Set it once, leave it alone.

Can I override a price manually?

Yes. Any tag can be set to a fixed price through the dashboard at any time. Fixed prices stay locked until you change them — they don’t fluctuate with spot. Useful for negotiated prices or non-precious inventory.

Does it work for silver as well as gold?

Yes. PriceTaglet tracks both gold and silver spot prices simultaneously. You can assign gold-based or silver-based formulas to any tag independently — useful for pawn shops and coin dealers carrying both metals.

Hardware & Reliability

What happens if my WiFi goes down?

Tags hold their last displayed price indefinitely. E-ink displays require no power to maintain an image — if the hub loses connectivity, tags won’t update until it’s restored, but they’ll continue showing the last known price rather than going blank.

How long do the tag batteries last?

Multiple years under normal operation. E-ink only consumes power when updating — a tag that refreshes a few times per day will run for years on a standard battery. Batteries are user-swappable and inexpensive.

How are the tags mounted?

Tags come with adhesive mounts and small stands suited for display case shelves, pedestals, and jewelry trays. Contact us if you have an unusual display configuration.

What’s the range between the hub and tags?

Tags communicate wirelessly with the hub, with an effective range of 30–50 feet in a typical retail environment. For larger spaces, additional hubs can be added.
