PriceTaglet vs. MinewTag: Comparing E-Ink Price Tag Systems for Coin Shops

PriceTaglet vs. Minew's MinewTag ESLs: gateway and demo kit pricing, cloud licensing, U.S. support and live gold and silver pricing for coin stores.

MinewTag is the electronic shelf label line from Minew, a Bluetooth and IoT hardware company. Its tags and gateways are sold widely through electronics distributors and online marketplaces, which makes them one of the easiest ESL brands to buy a few of and experiment with. PriceTaglet takes a different approach: one system designed for stores whose prices follow the precious metals markets.

Here's how they compare for a coin, bullion or pawn shop.

Prices come from public listings in October 2026 and can change. Confirm with the seller before buying.

Who Minew is

According to MinewTag's about page, the company is based in Shenzhen, China, was founded in 2007, and develops Bluetooth Low Energy products alongside a cloud platform. It sells into healthcare, warehouse, office and retail markets, so electronic shelf labels are one product line among many.

Gateway and kit pricing

Minew's gateway is the G1-E. U.S. distributor Embedded Works lists it at $418, describing it as a 3-channel Bluetooth gateway that supports up to 1,000 e-labels with a range of up to 300 meters. Tags are sold separately.

For trying the system, Minew has offered demo kits:

MinewTag kit Contents Listed price
ESL Demo Kit (on Tindie) 8 tags in six sizes, G1-E gateway, mounting accessories, 1-year cloud platform package $599
ESL Demo Kit V3.0 (on the MinewTag store) 5 tags, G1-E gateway, accessories, 6-month cloud platform license Price not listed

The Tindie listing shows the seller in Shenzhen and was marked as "taking a break" when we checked, so availability may vary.

The software: a time-limited cloud license

MinewTag tags are managed through Minew's ESL Cloud Platform. The demo kits include it for six months or one year, which suggests ongoing use requires a renewed license. Pricing for that license isn't published on the pages we reviewed, so ask Minew or your distributor what it costs after the trial.

With PriceTaglet, the browser dashboard is part of the system. You add items, set pricing formulas and markups, override prices and check battery levels in one place, with no app to install.

The coin-store gap: live metal prices

Minew's platform lets you set and push prices. It isn't built around precious metals, and we found no built-in gold or silver price feed in its materials. A coin shop would need to find its own market data source and handle the recalculation itself.

PriceTaglet includes a live spot price feed for gold, silver and platinum. Tags are configured by metal, weight and karat, and the hub recalculates and pushes new prices when spot moves. That's the core reason PriceTaglet exists.

Hardware and readability

Both systems use E-Ink tags, which hold an image without power and stay readable in bright light. Minew offers more tag sizes and color options, which is useful for grocery-style shelving. Minew itself notes in its E-Ink vs. LCD comparison that E-Ink tags draw power only when they update, with battery life measured in years.

PriceTaglet's tags are designed for display cases and counters, where most coin and jewelry pricing happens.

Support and location

Minew is a China-based manufacturer that sells through distributors, so support often runs through whoever sold you the hardware. PriceTaglet is a U.S. company that makes both its tags and its software, so setup questions, software issues and hardware problems all go to the same team, in U.S. time zones.

Which should you choose?

Choose MinewTag if you want to experiment with ESL hardware cheaply, have technical skills or a developer, need many tag sizes, and don't need prices tied to the metals market.

Choose PriceTaglet if you run a coin, bullion, jewelry or pawn store and want tags that follow gold, silver and platinum prices automatically, with one U.S. company behind the tags, the software and the price feed.
